Tata Tea to buy US firm for $677 mln

India's Tata Tea Ltd, the world's second-largest branded tea firm, said on Wednesday it plans to buy 30 per cent of US-based Energy Brands Inc for $677 million.

The company, which owns the Tetley brand, said this month it was eyeing acquisitions in the United States to help it expand its international operations.

Vedanta Acquires 51% Stake In India's Sesa Goa

Vedanta Resources PLC said it acquired a 51% stake in India's biggest private-sector iron-ore producer and exporter, Sesa Goa Ltd., as it seeks to diversify and tap into the strong demand for iron ore in China.

Vedanta, a metals and mining company listed and based in London but which has the bulk of its assets in India, acquired the stake from Japan's Mitsui & Co. It paid $981 million.
